The overnight celebrity took to Instagram to share a good news. Jumoke announced that the photo which launched her into stardom was “voted the #6 best picture in the world” by a German Television show.
For those who may have forgotten Jumoke’s story, here’s a recap:
“Jumoke, 27, and mother of two is a bread-seller. While hawking bread one day, photographer, TY Bello caught her in the background of a picture. Bello was photographing a British rapper, Tinie Tempah. While later reviewing and editing the images, Bello decided that Jumoke had potential as a model. So, she posted the photo on Instagram. Soon after, Bello reached out to Jumoke and offered her a modeling career.”
Jumoke was offered a modelling contract, internships and work, despite not speaking English. Following her instant success, her husband and her other child moved to Lagos with her. That is how Jumoke became popular.
It is a really touching story. Recounting the picture that started it all, Jumoke thanked Bello – the photographer who saw more than a bread-seller. She wrote:
