CLASHES IN YOBE STATE BETWEEN THE NIGERIAN ARMY AND THE NIGERIAN POLICE, FOUR DEAD AND NUMEROUS INJURED.

It has been reported that clashes between the military and the police in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital has left at least four people dead.

Although the cause of the clash was not yet known, it was reported that the town has been thrown into confusion with people fleeing from left to right not to get killed.

Financial institutions, government establish­ments and people who opened their places of businesses were forced to close early because of the upheaval. It was a a thing of shock as people flee their shops and ran for their lives.

The State Commis­sioner for Police, Mr Sumonu Andulmaliki, who confirmed the in­cident said men in military uniform have abducted the Squadron Commander of Mo­pol 41, Damaturu CSP, Dauda Fika.

Meanwhile, the mili­tary Spokesman in the state, Colonel Kayode Ogunsoya, in a state­ment said a committee has been set up to end the clash.
